Village Green News Archive VG featured in an LA Times article: Village Green in Baldwin Hills: A utopia for laughter and living, September 19, 2009 August 15, 2009—Board members Nat Hutton and Reba Glover resigned. On Sept 5, 2009 Daniel Frank and Joe Khoury were nominated to replace the two open seats based on the annual meeting election results. They accepted the nominations and joined the Board. The RAMP Committee's Mission Statement is to: 1. Actively discuss and explore the RAMP work facing Village Green. 2. Make recommendations to the Board on how to proceed. 3. Actively involve the Village Green Community in discussions. LaCienega—Jefferson Exposition Line Station, Transit-Oriented District Plan On Saturday, June 9, 2007 there was a community workshop at the 'i Center for residents to learn more about the district's plans surrounding the LaCienega/Jefferson Station on the Exposition Rail Line. June 2006—The Cultural Landscape Foundation focuses on Village Green The Village Green (formerly called Baldwin Hills Village) is one of 18 historic landscapes from across the U.S. featured under The Cultural Landscape Foundation's Landslide Project, which highlights landscapes at risk and reports current issues in landscape preservation and interpretation. Read the report. (Link takes you to The Cultural Landscape Foundation's Web site) April 24, 2006—New Property Manager Robert Bonfiglio, our new property manager, is here. Robert is a Certified Facilities Manager, has experience overseeing preventive maintenance programs, building overhead budgets, recycling programs and construction projects, and managing a Class A high-rise building. Robert is has worked for major motion picture studios and is interested in historic properties. Come into the office and welcome Robert aboard. February 4th, 2006—at the Annual Meeting, 3 new Board directors were voted into office. Results are as follows: Pauline Carroll, 237 votes; Reba Glover, 228; Deborah Harris, 171; Sten Jonnsson, 74; Steven Keylon, 222; Michael King; 123, Robert Nicolais, 239. Pauline Carroll and Reba Glover were re-elected. Congratulations to new directors Deborah Harris, Steven Keylon and Robert Nicolais. Deborah Harris will serve one year, completing the unfinished 2-year term of Christopher Harris who resigned last November. Jim Altschuler's last day as office manager was January 9, 2006. While the Board searches for a new office manager, Sherrie Giles will be interim manager. November 2005—Two Board Members (Marie Fouche and Christopher Harris) resign. This will leave 5 positions open on the board for the February elections. One of the 5 elected directors will serve only one year. |
